Altitude has commited to procuring more than 165,000t CDRs (CORCs) from biochar-based carbon removal (CDR) facilities in Argentina operated by EcoGaia & Emisiones Neutras.

Altitude, a leading Carbon Removal Financier, is procuring more than 165,000 tons of CO₂ Removal Certificates (CORCs) from biochar-based carbon removal (CDR) facilities in Argentina operated by EcoGaia & Emisiones Neutras, significantly expanding its global portfolio of high-integrity carbon removal projects. The credits, once certified, will be issued via the Puro Registry, ensuring full transparency, traceability, and verification.
The South American biochar facilities employ advanced pyrolysis technology to convert forestry residues into durable carbon storage. Operating under strict sustainability frameworks, these projects both permanently remove CO₂ from the atmosphere and generate valuable co-benefits for local communities, including improved soil fertility, new revenue streams for farmers, and reduce otherwise problematic waste disposal and its detrimental health effects.
“With this new commitment in South America, Altitude is scaling its role as a global leader in durable carbon removal,”
said Daniel Benjamin Schulz, CEO of Altitude.
“Our long-term offtake agreements provide the certainty needed to finance high-quality biochar projects, helping deliver climate impact while supporting sustainable development across the region.”
This procurement aligns with Altitude’s broader strategy of financing large-scale CDR. EcoGaia is a highly experienced developer and operator of climate positive infrastructure, with a long track record complemented by the operational know-how of Emisiones Neutras in running industrial biochar facilities.
“Our work with Altitude and their commitment to more than 165,000 tons of future CORCs marks a first major milestone in a long-term collaboration that has been built over time and will become the first large Scale Biochar facility in Argentina,”
said Martín Ciarfaglia and Nicolás Ciarfaglia, Co-Founders of EcoGaia, together with Pablo Kohan, Co-Founder and CEO of Emisiones Neutras.
“This agreement lays the foundation to scale high-integrity biochar-based carbon removal across South America by enabling the build-out of robust, scalable, and verifiable CDR infrastructure.”
